The best Heroku alternative Node.js & MongoDB hosting period

It is in no doubt that developers love the ease and productivity offered by the plaform as a service model pioneered by Heroku when it comes to deploying and managing their apps in production except its cost.

Why choose OpsCaptain Node.js hosting

This huge discrepency in the prices of the underlying hardware (see typical VPS pricing from Vultr, DigitalOcean) and the platform typically puts PaaS outside of the options available to most startups who want quality hosting at an affordable price. This is where OpsCaptain comes in, we have done our home work and know what developers want and provide just that at the lowest possible cost on the market. Infact, the time and effort involved in hosting and maintaining an app on your own VPS makes OpsCaptain an unbeatable choice.

OpsCaptain Node.js hosting is production grade and uses the same open source Node.js buildpack used by Heroku. OpsCaptain also supports custom buildpacks such as the Cloudfoundry Node.js buildpack. Transitioning an app to OpsCaptain should happen without a hitch. Our extensive and simple documentation should fill in any knowledge gap.

MongoDB support

It is no secret, all metrics point to MongoDB been the most popular database of choice for most Node.js developers. This is why at OpsCaptain, MongoDB hosting is a core part of the platform. You can host both your app and database here without having to wonder in a ton of addons which do not even work well. The MongoDB hosting supports nightly backups, WiredTiger storage engine, SSL on the wire and Authentication.

How it works

  • Log in using a third party login or create an OpsCaptain account. You can add your credit card or pay using PayPal when you deploy.
  • From the dashboard, create a new app by providing a name and selecting the region where the app is to be hosted.
  • After the app is created, simply connect your Git repo (GitHub, Bitbucket & GitLab support) or Upload your code to deploy from the dashboard or use the CLI. You can then configure SSL and set your domain.
